My daughter is missing two permanent teeth, what options are there?

The best option is to have implants to replace the missing teeth. If you go with a bridge you will have to reshape the teeth on either side of the missing tooth and you don't really want to do that to healthy teeth. The implant is placed in the jaw by an oral surgeon. It will take a few months to heal because the bone has to grow around the implant. Once it had healed then you can take her back to see your general dentist and he will remove the healing collar that is screwed into the implant and add some attachments to the implant so he can take an impression of it for the lab to make the crown. When the crown comes back he will remove the healing collar again and screw in the attachments. Once the attachments are in place then the crown will be cemented to that. It is a wonderful way to replace missing teeth and you don't have to reshape any other tooth to do it.

Bridges or dental implants. They are both expensive options (i have both) but worth every penny. This will help your daughter physically and mentally. My self esteem has really boosted since getting my teeth fixed.

Good luck!
Reply:Implants... My brother is currently in the process of having an implant done. When they are in they look like real teeth, and the don't come out. You should ask her dentist about it, however I am not sure that insurance covers it.
Reply:Hi! I've been in dentistry forover 25 years and I'm assumming these are laterals that are missing. Regardless, the ideal way is to have implants done when she is done growing. The reason for this is the appearance of the teeth change with age and to do an implant crown now that lots likes a young teenager as apposed to an adult is very different. I would not do bridges as you cut down healthy teeth and these nees to replaced every 12-20 years. So I would have a ful lmouth xray done by and Oral Surgeon and have a heart to heart at what time would ne the best to do the implant. I have 9 implants myself so I know a great deal about them from both sides of the chair. They are the only way to go as they will act like a rooth structure and help to keep the bone in the jaw from dessolving which will cause a gap between the fake tooth and have to replaced. So this is a plus all the way around. Good luck M
