Implants do not feel just like a real tooth, they have no ligaments around them and cannot sense when you bite down on something really hard. On the other hand, esthetically, implants are a great option and most people will not be able to tell the difference between having a natural tooth and an implant.
Reply:Have you talked about getting an implant? This is more expensive, but looks and feels just like a real tooth. After the implant surgery is done, it truly is like a replacement tooth. You won't even notice it.
Reply:Partials take time to get used to, you really should wear one though cuz your teeth will shift over time if you don't. When my hubby first got his upper full dentures he had a terrible time pronouncing his words, much better now. He makes fun of his self though that way when they slip or fall or he cannot talk correctly people know that he having probs with his false teeth. He does need to have them lined and the same could be for you, fitting the partial is very important for you to feel comfortable wearing it, hey you pay for it so make sure your doc makes it right.
Reply:listen to your dentist but YOU need to be comfortable in what you will be wearing. why did the dds just prep your teeth for a bridge, take the impression and place temps? can you please give me more info? and partial dentures for the upper jaw are fine, they will have a hook that sits around the tooth near the gumline. but again i can give you much more advice if you give me more detailed info........
Reply:raj" dont be afraid to wear a partial. i wear them and they wont fall out.u get use to them, they will feel a little uncomfortable, but after awhile u will get use to them and ur speech will return to normal and it will help save ur other teeth and keep them from getting out of line.
Reply:Sounds like you have what is called a 'flipper,' or a temporary partial. This is meant to be used as an esthetic measure, and in most cases isn't necessary for the healing process itself. Many times these temporary partials are somewhat loose. A denture adhesive like fixodent can help. Be advised that most flippers are not meant for any major chewing function, but simply for esthetics!

Good luck!
