I want to take the ring gear off my flywheel because it has some teeth missing?

How do you take it off???do you need a press to remove it and put the new one on...1983 ford 300 4 speed

You heat the teeth around the flywheel with a torch until they are glowing red. Then you drive them off with a punch, working your way around. You can reinstall the same ring gear, just flip it over and use the other side of the teeth. To reinstall, you will need to place the flywheel portion of the assembly in the freezer overnight, before you try to install heat the teeth again with the torch until they are glowing red, and install them onto the frozen flywheel section with the same punch, hammer, and patience. It isn't easy, but can save some money if you are willing to put forth the effort.
Reply:I guess it could be done ,but why ? Since you have to remove the flywheel anyway why don't you just get a new one? The cost of a new ring and a press to install it would far outweigh the cost of a new or rebuilt flywheel .
Reply:To remove the ring gear I used to put a cold chisel tight to the flywheel and strike it.putting one back on I found that I needed to heat the ring gear up and cool the flywheel down use a torch to heat and throw the flywheel in the fridge for a while .The ring will still be a tight fit but with a little luck and patience it will work.
Reply:If it is welded on replacement is not an option. I have heard of people who just heat up the ring gear with a torch and not a press.
Reply:YOU HAVE TO HEAT IT VERY HOT THEN IT WILL FALL OFF WHEN PUTTING THE NEW ONE HEAT IT UNTIL FALLS BACK ON
