People with gross and missing teeth?

Can someone please explain to me how people can think that walking around with a bunch of teeth missing, or nasty stained teeth is acceptable?

It is so disgusting!

People with gross and missing teeth?
I hate talking to people who have gross teeth; whatever it%26#039;d be. Whenever I talk to them, I can%26#039;t concentrate on the topic, I just stare at their nasty teeth! My teeth are straight and nice and I%26#039;m thankful to my mom, wh o paid for my braces-back in the day. EWW. I can%26#039;t even imagine dating someone with nasty teeth! The people who are getting angry are those who probably are lazy and nasty and are ashamed you posted a question that probably addresses their issue or they%26#039;re idiots.
Reply:i guess theyre comterable like that

or maybe they do care but just cant do anything
Reply:I don%26#039;t know...I guess they are just old fashioned and think that it is normal. Maybe they can%26#039;t afford proper dental care. I think it%26#039;s gross too!
Reply:youre parents let you out of the house didnt they? how do they find that acceptable?
Reply:People have bad hygene, not everyone has Dental Insurance, and getting a tooth fixed is expensive. Are you going to be paying for it?
Reply:Because they%26#039;re scared to get them fixed?

But eww I wish they would just suck it up and fix them
Reply:Some day, it%26#039;s gonna happen to you.

Then your question will be answered! :D
Reply:As my sister would say, their eroded and corroded teeth?
Reply:I am guessing they don%26#039;t mind or they just don%26#039;t have the funds to get them fixed. If it bothers you so much then take them to the dentist and pay for it yourself.
Reply:Yes, stained/missing teeth are gross, and I%26#039;m sure many of the people with those problems are very conscious of them, even without you lashing out and called them unacceptable. Not everyone has the luxury that you or I had of getting braces, whitening, etc.
Reply:sometimes it isn%26#039;t a choice. they simply can%26#039;t afford to take care of them in the way that they need to. i brush twice a day, floss every day, and use listerine every day but i have very bad teeth. most of them are in need of cavity fillings, root canals, or other things, and if i didn%26#039;t have the money to do those things, i would probably be like them. or just be in pain all the time.
Reply:Maybe they don%26#039;t have the money to fix their teeth.....
Reply:judgmental, aren%26#039;t we? lack of money means that people cannot afford to have perfection when survival is at stake.....maybe you could offer to help them with the money it takes to replace their teeth or get them whitened.
Reply:Unfortunately dental care can be too costly for a lot of americans. If it was someone I saw on a regular basis, I would anonymously leave them info on getting their teeth fixed on a budget plan.
Reply:I got a busted tooth an i get more action in a night than u do in a month dibby girl
Reply:Lady, you piss me off. My dad has a lung disease and doesn%26#039;t have enough health insurance to cover a dentist too - then he would have to give up his oxygen tank. He cannot work because of his disability so he cannot pay for it in cash.

The people who go around with %26quot;nasty%26quot; teeth are poor or have a health problem. So just shut up. If you don%26#039;t like %26#039;em don%26#039;t look at %26#039;em.
Reply:A lot of people can%26#039;t afford proper dental coverage, so I can%26#039;t see why your complaining.
Reply:I hope you don%26#039;t preach tolerance about things like race, sex, sexual orientation etc, because you are a hypocrite if you do.
Reply:Maybe these people are too poor or do not have dental insurance to get their teeth fixed. Not everyone has the money to get regular checkups.
Reply:Some people are oblivious about the condition of their teeth and how dangererous poor dental hygiene can be. Others are just poor and cannot afford expensive dental care. Good dental care should be taught in elementary school and free clinics should be available, but this is not a perfect world.
Reply:what about the fact that many dont have dental insurance. Can%26#039;t afford a dentist or just have biological problems? Think before you judge and reveal your real IQ.

I myself have a discolored tooth b/c as I child I was born with pink eye and had to start my first hours on pennicillin (which is largly sugar based) so my teeth didn%26#039;t have a good start. No insurance and a job that just covers the basics (working on changing that). Your comments were really hurtful.

Here%26#039;s something new - think before you open your trap ok?
Reply:How ironic you place this question in the %26quot;etiquette%26quot; section. You have none.

Many people cannot afford dental care. How insensitive of you to discriminate against such people. You should be ashamed of yourself and grateful for your own teeth and the care you can afford for them. How could you think such shallow views of unfortunate people is acceptable?

I know many people with bad teeth who are more beautiful on the inside than many people (with good teeth) are on the outside.
Reply:some people can%26#039;t afford dental care.
Reply:LOL!! I don%26#039;t think they are doing this because they want to be more attractive. It%26#039;s a matter of basic economics. Dental work is very expensive and trailer park America simply can%26#039;t afford to be working on their grills when limited funds are needed just to survive. I doubt they are very happy to have nasty teeth. Again I shouldn%26#039;t be laughing at the plight of the poor, but the wording of this just makes me LMAO. You should go to England some time.

The amount of hostility this question brought up is ridiculous. I never thought there were so many humorless, self-righteous moralists here.
Reply:Gosh, good thing YOUR parents could afford braces.
Reply:Will you give them money to whiten their teeth or get new ones?
Reply:I live in West Virginia, U.S. and sadly, we have the worst reputation for tooth decay.

One of the biggest reasons is the cost. When you have 2 kids and make $6 an hour, it%26#039;s a choice between putting food on the table or going to the dentist. Sadly, better-for-you food is more expensive than the stuff you can afford (or is given to you at food pantries)

Another reason is because of culture. Because, for generations, nobody ever went to the dentist, why should I - and it%26#039;s too expensive anyway.

Another reason is education. Since WV is an impoverished state, people are fortunate to graduate from high school - much less go on to college.People with lower educations, sadly tend to not be as careful with their teeth as they should be.

There are all kinds of other reasons - mostly boiling down to not being able to afford proper dental care.

Sad isn%26#039;t it? The most industrialized country in the world, with one of the highest standards of living in the world - doesn%26#039;t have universal medical/dental care for its citizens. We%26#039;re too busy fighting a war no one wants in countries where we are hated - all for the good of big business.

You%26#039;re right. It%26#039;s gross. Fortunately, my partner has his teeth. I don%26#039;t know if I could kiss him otherwise.
Reply:You know, I think it is perfectly fine to have an opinion. My husband always says that opinions are like ***holes, everyone has one. But sometimes I think it is best to keep your opinion to yourself if it can be hurtful to someone else. I am sure that people who have dental problems are very aware of it and self-conscious about it.
Reply:You%26#039;ve probably never paid a dentist bill out of you own pocket. Dental implants start around $2,000 each.

Of course poor hygiene of any sort is unattractive.

Naive.
Reply:There are lots of reasons why people don%26#039;t take care of teeth, but I agree with you. Someone can be very nice looking and then they open their mouth showing missing, nasty teeth and you get turned off.
Reply:I do agree with you 100%. Dental care is inexpensive while your teeth are still healthy. If you let it go for decades, then of course it becomes unaffordable. The only point that I disagree with is that poor people put themselves in that position. I personally know of a single mother with a $3000.00 balance on her brand new home (she poured every dime into her mortgage), has excellent, EXCELLENT credit but was recently diagnosed with MS. Now, she can%26#039;t work and is living off her credit cards. She has applied for social security but it will take at least 2-3 years before she gets any benefits. This woman may lose her home, her car and ruin her credit. Not her fault.
