What are the complications of missing teeth besides shifting and effects on gums?

my gums hurt and after an extraction, how many minths should you wait for you to put dentures?

What are the complications of missing teeth besides shifting and effects on gums?
Honey, I'm so glad you asked this question, because, you are reading from a person who's going through the very same thing this month. So, I have a little insight that might help you, with your situation. First of all if you liked your teeth, when they were young %26amp; healthy, make sure, whats left of them, for them to do, an impression first, of your old teeth, and tell them the ones that aren't there, lookes just like the opposits side, (that is if you have the same problem, as I do). Then, once they've done the impression of your teeth, you will get two options, atleast my dentist gave me two options, and most dentists, do, do this. You can either opt, to wait until the "healing" is all done, than get your denture, or have them put in, the same day, they pull your teeth!! I'm not kidding! And what you do, is you do your liquid medicines in between during throughout the day, but you have them, thats the main thing! See, I'm a "full-time" student, so I didn't want to go to school with no top teeth, especially when I do alot of contributing to questions, being asked in all of my classes! Can you imagine, my teacher, calling on me, for an answer, and all the looks I'd get with no top teeth!! Ha-Ha! Not funny, I'd be "Blushing from ear to ear"!! I was so worried about that part, but now, I dont have to, because, I told him same day, PLEASE! And when you get home just take them out, and treat them with the medicine then put them back in, and repeat this process! I also heard, its better to get them in, the same day, because something about the gums, will, heal to the shape of the denture.Oh, also, request that they cut the first the first front four teeth's gums, on the dentures, because otherwise, they will look fake, and ask them for "Ridges, for the Roof" of the new denture, otherwise, all you eat, will just slip, around in there. As for care of your abstracts, now, I'd do the hydrogen peroxide, washes, that'll help keep them clean, and try your best to eat things like yogurt, pudding, baby food, even anything soft, and slippery, until you get your holes, completely healed. And they will heal faster then you think, if you take proper care to do the washings.. Oh, warm salt water, washes, very gently.. Thats what it is! Not hydrogen peroxide, I'm sorry. I stand correcting myself here... Definately lots of salt, in a really clean glass, not plastic, plastic, obsorbs germs, and body temperature warm water, and repeat, this about as often as you can take it.. The more you do it, the faster they will heal !! Oh, and to get rid of that yukky salt taste out of your mouth, use, warm water, to rinse it off of your tongue and mouth, but only after you left the salt water sitting in the holes a couple minutes, at a time, after each drink... Good-Luck, to you, before you know it, you are going to be smiling again, and so will I, I cant wait !! I'm so happy, for you !! And dont be embarrassed, its apart of life, and anyone that makes you feel awkward, or uncomfortable, about it, just tell them, in a few years they'll be having it done too, so leave you alone! Smile, it'll all be just "Wonderful" before we both know it !!!
Reply:One other complication is with the opposing tooth. This is the one used to bite against the tooth that is missing. That tooth needs to have an opposing tooth or it can go bad. I say 'can' because I've had 2 back, unoppossing teeth for years. They do no good because the opposing tooth is gone, but they've not been a problem either.

I have a few missing teeth. 3 to be exact. i was wondering why kind of replacements are out there.?

Hello,

There are many ways to replace missing teeth. Bridges are crowns that are joined together and cemented in your mouth. It is important to floss under your bridge to prevent decay. Partials are removable, most people hate them and usually put them in their "junk drawer". Most people do implants, it is like having your natural teeth. They are made of titanium which your body accepts without complications. Occassionally a patient may need a sinus lift or bone graft, which we do at "Dr. Joes", before we place an implant, we take an x-ray to ensure that a patient is a great candidate for an implant. If a patient smokes or is diabetic, we are very wary of placing an implant. We prescribe antibiotics days prior to surgery and also a rinse called chlorahexidine to fight antimicrobials in the mouth.

Implants are costly but worth it, we offer financing thru carecredit.

Go see your dentist. There are all kinds of replacements available. A lot depends on what area in your mouth these teeth are missing from.
Reply:that depends on the location of the missing teeth. there are partials and bridges. do not do implants.

http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=8565...
Reply:Two options. A bridge (or two) or implants. Bridges are much cheaper, but implants will last a lifetime (as long as you don't have bone loss in your jaw or gum disease).

I had 2 teeth break 2 years ago. I had 2 implants. I LOVE them. I'd had such trouble with these 2 molars. I wish I'd had them pulled a long time ago. I can eat anything. And I can smile and laugh and I'm not worried about people seeing missing teeth. Expensive. $2,500 a piece. Worth every penny.

I have two lower missing teeth and am trying to save up for dental implants?

does anyone know how much they cost? and can they make them look real? im in the uk

I have two lower missing teeth and am trying to save up for dental implants?
Dental Implants is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and lasik surgery in India by a company called Forerunners Healthcare. The Price for dental and lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.

They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
Reply:a lot
Reply:As long as you don't need bone grafting (meaning you have enough bone to support the new implants), it will cost around $1200-1500 per tooth. Yes, they look just like real teeth and last you a lifetime.

Porcelain veneers are not implants, the first person got confused.
Reply:ooh i hurd that hurts

i might check ebay sometimes they sell services on there

Reply:Hi! I actually have great Dental Benefits available. You would be totally amazed how much money you can save. I am always getting folks writing me with testimonies. Here is my website address: Http://www.DentalCare4You.com Feel free to email me if you have any other questions!
Reply:you could be looking from $2000-$3000 per tooth from surgical point to crown finish
Reply:I am in the USA, so I don' tknow how much of this applies to you as far as fees go, but perhaps this will help answer some other questions you may have.

The implant would be from $1,500 to $2,000, but that's just for the implant. You need to have the implant restored with something or it's useless. ONE implant is typically restored with a crown, but that is a two-part deal. First you get what is called the abutment and sticks out above your gums. That can cost from $500 to $1,000 depending on whether you can use a pre-fab abutment or if it has to be custom made and what the fees are in your area. Once you have the abutment, you need a crown and that fee should be pretty much the same as a crown on a regular tooth. That would be from about $750 to $1,000 or maybe more in some areas. This means the total would range from about $2,750 to $4,000 depending on several factors. I'd say the average single tooth implant restored with a crown in New Jersey might be about $3,000.

It is possible that your bone at the extraction site might need augmentation and that would cost somewhat more. The extraction, if it's a "routine" extraction might cost from $100-150 and the augmentation could cost just as much as the basic extraction.
Reply:You just need to find a good dentist...and get an estimate from him/her...or call around and ask a few of them and also ask if they finance it and let you pay monthly payments, as some will...good luck!

Why do crackheads have missing teeth?

no really, I want to know...

Why do crackheads have missing teeth?
Its somethng that the substance does to their body, it depleats all the calcium and nutrients...then their teeth fall out. Thats why their so skinny too. Also, like meth addicts with sore all over their faces...the toxins are actually coming out of their pores causing this reaction with the skin.

how gross!
Reply:Not taking care of themselves could be one reason.
Reply:The crack messes up there teeth and when they high they dont brush they teeth because they forget.
Reply:Because of all the caustic chemicals found in the drugs they use. Meth is probably the worse on teeth, hence the knickname "meth mouth".
Reply:cuz crack is whacccck
Reply:well crackheads are usually poor or homeless and spend whatever money they have on crack, so no tooth brush and toothpaste= bad hygine and missing teeth
Reply:Probably because the stuff that's in there cause an chemical effect to your teeth!
Reply:HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA i dont get it
Reply:cuz when ppl like crak so much, they dont think about anything but it. not bathing sleeping brushing of the teeth eating, ya kno
Reply:The crack is very acidic and pits the tooth enamel. It also damages the gums which causes the teeth to become loose and fall out. Gums do not grow back, once there gone, there gone for good.
Reply:meth will make your teeth fall out
Reply:Because they punched when they didnt pay the dealer the money they owe

Face change from 2 missing teeth, maxilla recession, lopsided face?

I had a problem when I was younger and had a cist formed above one of my teeth, the tooth was removed but caused my wisdom tooth to stay in my upper gum. After going to multiple dentists and oral surgeons, I was told that I didn't have to remove the wisdom tooth. But after doing some research the upper maxilla (or the jaw bone where two of the teeth would have been) is affecting my face shape. It is looking sunken in on one side, while the other side of my face is normal.

After reviewing with an oral surgeon, I only notice my face shape change to something I could notice, when my wisdom tooth came in on my opposite side (the side where I didn't have any teeth removed).

I have removed my lower wisdom tooth and have scheduled a time to remove the upper wisdom tooth on the side that seems to be "puffy" or "normal."

I don't want my face to be lopsided, and afraid that just removing the wisdom tooth will do nothing. What can I do to fix what has happened?

Face change from 2 missing teeth, maxilla recession, lopsided face?
Orthodontists deal with facial appearance (not just straight teeth like most people think [= ) and they work closely with oral surgeons in some cases to get the best result. You should go for a couple consultations with orthodontists in your area and tell them about your concerns, most orthodontists offer free consultations.

Missing Teeth / Dental Implant / Braces?

I am having a lot of problems with my mouth over the last few months. I went to the dentist and he told me that I still have a baby tooth and I was born without two of my permanent teeth [two of the front bottom teeth].

He thinks I should pull the baby tooth and get braces to make room for two dental implants.

The whole thing freaks me out. I don't want to be toothless, and I also don't want something foreign in my mouth that is destined to "fail" sometime or another.

I am also curious as to if I could just get braces and pull everything together and just leave some space in the back - possibly room for my wisdom teeth when they come in.

I am an education major very close to graduating and I don't want to have a physically negative appearance in the classroom. I have been constantly crying over the last few months after I heard the news. I really would like to hear comments from professionals who could possibly put me to ease.

Missing Teeth / Dental Implant / Braces?
Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 25 years and have implants. Many of them. And please promise me to stop crying over this. IT IS a solvable problem and you will not look bad or will they fail. In fact, implants will out live you. The baby teeth will fail. This you have no choice, they have to go. The braces will make room and more importantly, the implants will look more natural and better than the baby teeth. It all takes time, but the end result will be wonderful.

This is what I would do. I would make either a Maryland bridge that fills the gab and cements onto the neighboring teeth to take up the space of the baby teeth. The Ortho can bypass this and cement brackets and add the wire to the natural teeth and move them into position. Once this is done, remove the bridge and sink the implants. You can recement the bridge until the implants heal in place and the final crowns can be placed. NO ONE will know BUT YOU! And there is no space to be embarrassed about.

The second option is to wear a flipper that has two teeth on it and no one will know but you. I think this is not the best of choices as you can remove this and it can come out easily.

What I have done for patients, is make the Maryland bridge with a temp. material, costs less and you can have a good look. Once the teeth shift, sink implants and make a partial denture for the space. This hooks on to your natural teeth and is less likely to move when you talk or laugh. I have also re-cement the Maryland bridge for 3-4 months and the patient has no concerns until it it time for final impressions. Then still use this so no one knows and it looks great. It will cost a little more, but you wil have a full set of teeth, stop crying about it and get on with a great career. THIS is a TINY speed bump in your life. A good dentist will never let you walk around missing teeth and look terrible. I will never allow any of my patients to angst over this. If I have to make the temporary myself I do. Believe me, I have 11 implants and 5 are in the front, do you think my patients ever saw their dentist without perfect teeth? Never. So please calm down, this is easy to do. If your dentist can't find someone that can. I do this all the time and my patients love me. The reason I care so much is I have been in the same situation. If you have any other questions, please ask. Marie.
Reply:It will be okay. If you are uncomfortable witht eh implant tell the denist your idea and see what he says.
Reply:Okay. Are you aesthically ok at this point? That baby tooth can last for a very long time. I have a patient (I'm in the dental field) who has a nicely functioning baby tooth. He is 75 freaking years old!

Yes it is possible that the baby tooth will crap out. When it does, an implant may be in order. By that time you may have dental insurance and they might even cover a portion. SWEET! Dental implants have come a long way over the last 20 years. They are costly, but do last when done correctly.

If you have a malocclusion, see an orthodontist to see if braces can help this situation. They are in a position to scope out what needs to be where.

If you have dental insurance now, you should be able to get a panorex (full lower face xray) done under your coverage by your dentist. Take that xray to the orthodontist and get a consult. Most orthodontists will do a consult for a minimal fee.

Don't worry about looking professional in the classroom because of your teeth. The kids will love it if you have to get braces. Now quit crying and finish you school work to the best of your ability.

Missing teeth and braces question?

My son is 13, and just had the ortho workup for braces and doesn't physically have the 2 teeth next to his upper 2 front teeth.

The ortho dr wants to take his other teeth and pull them closer and pull 2 permanent bottom teeth since he is overcrowded.

So we have the dental workup today and he is uneasy of pulling the 2 permanent and wants us to have a 2nd opinion which is fine and we will, but wants to do implants instead of moving those teeth over.

So has any parents experienced this during dental workups? What did you chose and do?

Thanks!!

Missing teeth and braces question?
My son had a similar situation. Our dentist, ortho and 2nd opinion did not think implants were a good idea because of the risk of rejection as well as other issues. have the 2nd opinion but I wouldn't hesitate having the perm teeth extracted.
Reply:well if you do implants it would be a lot of money

just do wat the doctor said to do
Reply:that happened to me.

my teeth moved but there was too much of a space (they pulled a lot of my teeth) so i have one implant. i always get complimented on my smile... literally every day,

but i'm not sure the pain of all that dentistry was worth it. :)

i'm sure i'm happier with my teeth and the past pain than i would be with an overcrowded smile.
Reply:hey i'm 15 and have the same problem. my mom chose to do implants instead. i would look for a second opion because my detentist said that moving teeth over would not work because there would still be space missing some where in my mouth so i didnt really have an option. hope that helps a little.

Kitten has 2 missing adult teeth?

My kitten's (6 months old) has 2 missing adult teeth according to his vet. I am taking him in for x-rays on Tuesday to find out if they are perhaps still up in the gum. What are some other possible reasons why they would not be there? Have you experienced this before?

My kitten is an indoor kitty who is my only pet. He is spoiled rotten so it is not possibly that he got into a fight or anything.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Kitten has 2 missing adult teeth?
Most likely, the adult teeth haven't grown in yet.

Which adult teeth are you talking about? If they're molars, just wait a month or two before having x-rays taken. 6-month-old kittens don't have all their adult teeth. They're the equivalent of a 10-year-old child.
Reply:Hmmmm. Sounds like your vet is right but it might just be taking a while for his teeth to grow in. When I was a baby they thought I'd stay toothless forever! But now look at me I'm just fine. My cats haven't had that experience before but no need to worry. He should be just fine.
Reply:It may be that your off on how old your kitten actually is? It may be that he is a late bloomer. I'd wait a month before becoming worried.

Are You Missing Any Teeth?

I am missing 4 teeth due to an accident, but I wear a partial so nobody really notices. What do you do and how many teeth are you missing? Just curious. Thanx.

Are You Missing Any Teeth?
I lost 3 in a car accident. I wore a flipper (I believe the same thing as a partial) for a couple of years and I hated that damn thing. After a few years of gum and jaw bone work, I was finally able to get implants. Implants beat the hell out of a flipper. Every once in a while that flipper would pop out in mid sentence and create horrible embarrassment. Not to mention horribly uncomfortable and a hassle to keep clean.
Reply:I lost a front tooth from a car accident and wear a permanent bridge
Reply:I'm missing 4 as well, due to abscesses. I have a partial too.
Reply:I lost all my teeth this year, I had no calium or bulk in my teeth no matter what I did they just broke off so now I have a whole new set with very straight teeth that won't break.
Reply:I'm missing my 2nd incisors. The adult ones never came in and the dentist told me not to pull the baby ones. so really The baby canines stayed in and the adult canines are sitting next to the 2 middle incisors. then the baby canines got too old and came out and now I have baby sized partials to fill the space. More than you wanted to know?
Reply:I have no back teeth. I had them filled, then they started up again. I decided I did not want root canals, so I told them to pull them. This was done at different times.
Reply:I am a stay at home person now, but I was in the work field for a long time.

Yes I wear a partial too, i am missing 4 teeth actually upper molars 2 on each side, nothing wrong in wearing a partial that shows that you care enough to do some thing for your self- I know dental procedures are very expensive- and a bridge or implants are great if you have the money, I've worn my partial for over 10 years, and no-one knows, sometimes accidents or injuries happen and I know lots of people who wear partials replacing the front and back teeth especially in sports that's where a lot of teeth end up missing.
Reply:I'm missing all of my teeth and I have been since I was 14. The enamel was missing and they started to fall apart really quick so I had them all pulled out. I have dentures but I usually left them out. They don't fit anymore so I just go gummy which my bf kinda likes acutally.
Reply:I am missing 2, my 1st top premolar on each side. They where taken out when I was a kid as I had to wear a brace but the gaps never closed fully.

Missing some teeth???

I'm missing my 12 year molars, a tooth in the front, and my wisdom teeth. No gaps are noticable, they just didn't come in. Trust me, I'm too old to get any new teeth now. Is this a condition to worry about???

Missing some teeth???
Some people are just born that way. It's genetic.

You could get implants and braces, but since you said you have no gaps, I woudn't worry about it.

I worked several years as a dental assistant, and have seen this quite a few times. There is a name for it, but I dont remember what its called.

You're not alone.
Reply:While it's possible that these teeth did not really develop, I suggest that you have a panoramic radiograph taken. It's possible that the teeth are there but are impacted. That means that they did not erupt because of some form of obstruction. Impacted teeth can be troublesome. Some studies claim that up to 10% of them may develop cysts and other conditions. Your wisdom teeth are due to erupt when you're between 17-23 years of age.

How does an orthadontist work around with braces when u got two teeth missing??
I had a couple baby teeth still when I had mine put on, and they just didn't put a bracket, and they held the space while I was without a tooth. They know what they are doing. I was like 12 when this all happened, so I don't really remember much, but I know everything turned out fine... well until recently when my wisdom teeth popped up and shifted my teeth all out of wack.

Good luck. Listen to the doctor.
Reply:I had four teeth with no brackets on them when I first got braces. It is very easy and normal to get braces before all of your adult teeth are in.

The process is just like normal. The orthodontist cements little metal squares with gruves that hold an archwire in place to each of your teeth, but it this case, the orthodontist will skip the spaces right to the next normal tooth. The wire will run beside the space without touching it and will be fed into the next bracket available. Simple as that.

Good luck!
